November 2021 Update: Answer to Prayer!

Our sincere prayer is that this blog finds you well!

Arturo & Sharon have returned safely to the JCI house in Manila. Their visit to Australia from August-September was very rewarding as they met their new little Grandson and spent time together with family & friends. Travel this year includes weeks in quarantine and the rest has been a blessing…

The JCI family is growing and we have accepted 3 more children into the JCI home.  Arturo has built another solid wooden table to match the first and to add places for the new children to join the table at meal times. Several children are still hoping to be sponsored. If you are interested please contact our team via joshuacare@outlook.com  - Thank you to our new sponsors as you join us in helping children to climb out of poverty!

The children that live with us in the JCI Home are all growing fast. Becoming teenagers and developing their own characters and challenging behaviours. The house parents are doing a good job in nurturing the kids guiding them and encouraging good choices in life. High school is more intensive study and the kids are trying to do their best.

Cerilyn has been granted the Underwood Scholarship to attend the Philippine Womens University in 2022. We are so proud of her and wish her all the best. She will transfer to the JCI Independent Living program (ILP) where she will be able to rent a room near to the University and learn to live independently. She will continue to receive support and supervision from JCI until her graduation from College. At the end of three years our ILP students will be able to enter their adult life with the skills and confidence to take care of themselves, physically, emotionally, spiritually and financially.

Ruth our Community Officer is doing a great job in following up our students in the Community Program. The local government hold community clinics to vaccinate the children against Measles, Diptheria, Tetanus and Pertussis. The JCI kids are being updated with their health screen and vaccinations.

Our next efforts will be for dental care and visual assessments. Many families are still struggling due to covid. Many have lost their jobs. They come to JCI humbly asking for help. We would like to help these families with food parcels for Christmas. You can be a part of the blessing this Christmas by giving to this worthy cause at   www.joshuacare.org/donate

Baby Theo was born on Monday morning. Due to Covid restrictions the Dad was not allowed into the birthing suite! After a long labor the baby was born not breathing. As he was taken to the resus trolley, mum passed out. The swab test revealed she is Covid positive and thus was not allowed to hold the baby. Baby was taken to the special care nursery and the parents were isolated in the ward. The next day we brought Karen & Dexter home feeling their sadness as they were unable to hold their baby or bring him home. Baby Theo remains in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit while his parents isolate at home. Please pray for healing for this family and if you would like to help them with their hospital expenses you would be an answer to their prayers!

We, along with our whole team, have been praying for you consistently. We commend you for your resilience & faithfulness in these days and thank you for the many messages and support. Our prayer is that you are assured that when it comes to your life… God IS, God CAN and God WILL.

Be blessed,

Sharon Del Valle and the Joshua Care Team
