September 2020 Update: What's Done for Christ Will Last!

Dear Friends,

Wow! What a year it has been. Even in the midst of a pandemic we have been blessed and blown away by how time and time again the children who enter our doors with fear, pain, or anger encounter love and are softened and now able to give and receive love. That's what Jesus does for you, for me, and for all of the children at Joshua Care. Joshua Care is a safe place and our hope is that the children would discover the love of God because we know its only His love that truly changes us and that's the kind of environment we seek to cultivate.

Ten years ago we held a outreach feeding for the homeless community that live in the local cemetery. Since then Joshua Care has had the opportunity to reach and help countless lives in that very community with food, medical assistance, and educational sponsorship!

Young Pamela was one of our first Joshua Care children sponsored. She has since graduated Grade 12 at Mt. Moriah Christian Academy. Unfortunately, Pamelas mother died last year at the age of 38 from kidney failure. Pamela is a beautiful young woman now raising children of her own and still stays in close contact with Joshua Care. Who knows what her life may have looked like losing her mother at a young age but because of people like you, now Pamela has a chance at breaking the cycle of poverty. Keep her and her young family in your prayers.

Another lady we met in the cemetery many years ago was Jocelyn. She abandoned her children and left them to live with their father in the cemetery for five years. The father brought the children to live at Joshua Care because he could no longer care for them and a year later he died in prison.

Today, Jhamica and her two brothers Joshua and Johnny are growing up healthy and blessed in the Joshua Care house thriving and doing well at school!

These are just one of many stories. Joshua Care is making a difference in the lives of so many children and their families and you are an integral part of it! Your contribution helps to bring light to darkness, peace to conflict, and hope to the hopeless.

COVID EFFECT

We are happy to let you know that all of our Joshua Care sponsor kids are continuing their studies online during the COVID pandemic. A big thank you to Kevin De Silva for the iPad donations which have come in very useful for the children who had no access to any devices to continue their studies online throughout this season.

If you have a any spare devices (phones, tablets or laptops) you would like to donate please let us know. This will be extremely helpful for the children who do not currently have access!

During COVID quarantine, Joshua Care has been growing fruits and vegetables. Our Joshua Care kids have enjoyed healthy food with plenty to share. Joshua Care has continued to bless the local families with relief packs of food throughout the pandemic as many are suffering lack due to loss of jobs.

School books have arrived and the children are being guided by their teachers online. Our Joshua Care kids are SO blessed to be able to continue their education online because they have a sponsor. Many parents have lost their jobs working on the ships, hotels etc. and their children have had to drop out of school due to lost wages and lack of food.

There are more children now lining up for Joshua Care sponsorship. They want to continue their studies!  Please tell your family and friends about Joshua Care. If you have the means to sponsor another child or you know someone who might you can go to joshuacare.org.au/sponsor and select EDUCATIONAL SPONSORSHIP.

MEET ZEDRICK

Zedricks parents heard about Joshua Care and contacted us for help. Zedrick also has Crouzons (the same illness that our late Baby Troy was diagnosed with). So far we have been able to help them get in contact with doctors who have been able to help him. Zedrick will face several operations. Please pray all goes well for him. If you wish to donate towards his medical expenses go to www.joshuacare.org/Donate select GENERAL DONATION and then in message specify “ZEDRICK MEDICAL”.

Amongst the chaos and uncertainty of this year we have been blessed and are tremendously grateful for all the ways that you, our supporters, chose to sow into what God is doing through Joshua Care. We've seen significant growth compared to previous years and are planning to accommodate for future growth. As Joshua Care expands, we are believing for funds to reach more and help more!

We're excited to run this Kingdom race with you and many others by our side. It's truly an honour. God bless you!

With love,

Sharon, Arturo and the Joshua Care Team
